to the Monks story that Tichendorf who was a scholar paid a visit to
the monastery in 1844 and did borrow the codex then he smuggled most of
it to Germany. On the other hand Tichendorf claimed that the monks were
ignorant in way that they trashed the codex for waste and it was
rescued by him. Today most of the Codex Sinaiticus is displayed in the
British Museum and some are left in St. Catherine Monastery. Before the
revealing and the introduction of the Codex Sinaiticus to the west the
other Codex (the Codex Vaticanus) was counted to be the oldest. Written
